Intermediate Intermediate

In our intermediate surf session, you will surf perfect cruiser waves to take your skills to a higher level. This session is ideal for practising cutbacks and relaxed turns, surfing with flow and generally improving your surfing technique. You will lay the foundation for surfing in more challenging waves with a variety of surf manoeuvres. You will also receive professional guiding from our surf coaches and surf perfect waves for a variety of surfboard shapes and surf styles.

Suitable for

Ideal for all those who have mastered the basics of independent surfing in green waves and now want to practise turns and more advanced manoeuvres.

Session objectives

  • Surf Knowledge: Advanced wave theory
  • Paddling & Catching Waves: Paddling efficiently and improving positioning & timing
  • Take-off: Fluid, angled take-offs in green waves
  • Stance & Speed: Safe surfing posture in every situation & generating speed
  • Wave Sections: Surfing in the upper half of the wave & a high line
  • Manoeuvres: Smaller bottom turns & cutbacks on the frontside and backside
  • Number of sessions to reach the next higher level: Depending on physical fitness and learning ability, 5-15 sessions; but at least as many to fulfil the defined requirements of the next higher surfing level

Preconditions

Please check whether you fulfil the following requirements before booking.

  • Mastering surf etiquette and independent surfing skills in a line-up
  • Always safe, angled take-offs in green waves
  • Practised basic stance and safe board control in green waves
  • Good ability to surf parallel to the wave
  • First successful changes of direction in green waves
  • Safe surfing on front & backside
  • Minimum age 11 years (Exceptions possible)
  • Swimming ability (at least 25 m)
  • No acute injury or illness

All in This is included in your surf session:

  • Surf equipment
    You can easily hire a high-quality wetsuit from our partner Rip Curl and matching surfboards on site - they are not included in the price. If required, you will receive a surf helmet for your surf session. For the intermediate level, we recommend the following surfboards: Longboard, Malibu, Minimalibu, Mid-Length, Funboard, Fish and Groveller.
  • Professional guiding
    Our friendly and licensed surf coaches will guide you during the entire surf session and ensure that your surf session runs smoothly.
  • Safe learning environment
    Our professional lifeguards will ensure your safety at all times. We will provide you with safety equipment such as a helmet and leash.
  • Day ticket and wristband
    When you check in, you will receive a high-quality SURFTOWN wristband that gives you access to the outdoor area of the surf park for the whole day.
  • Changing rooms & lockers
    The use of our changing rooms with showers, lockers and valuables lockers is included in your ticket.
  • Perfect waves
    You get a guaranteed number of wave attempts due to a limited group size, as well as perfectly suitable waves for your surfing level.
