In our rookie surf session, you'll get ready for the next level. Do you want to get fit for surfing in the peak zone? Then the rookie level is the right place for you. Here you will improve your basics from the first-timer surf session and acquire the basic skills for independent surfing: correct paddling on waves, practising your take-off technique and improving your surfing posture and board control. You will also learn your first changes of direction in waves.

  • Dynamically breaking beginner waves in waist-deep water
  • 45 min. briefing, theory & activation; 60 min. in the wave pool; 15 min. de-briefing
  • Maximum 7 surfers per surf coach, maximum 14 surfers in total per surf zone
  • Coaching by a professional surf coach

Suitable for

Ideal for all those who have already successfully surfed their first white water waves from start to finish and now want to practise take-offs and learn their first changes of direction.

Session objectives

  • Surf Knowledge: Basic surfing technique
  • Paddling & Catching Waves: Basic paddling technique
  • Take-off: Safe & correct take-off technique
  • Stance & Speed: Improving surfing stance & board control in white water waves
  • Wave Sections: Surfing white water waves diagonally
  • Manoeuvres: Changing direction
  • Number of sessions to reach the next higher level: Depending on physical fitness and learning ability, 1-3 sessions; but at least as many to fulfil the defined requirements of the next higher surfing level

Preconditions

Please check whether you fulfil the following requirements before booking.

  • Safe handling of surf equipment in the water
  • Catching white water waves without help
  • First successful take-off attempts completed
  • Solid basic stance on the surfboard
  • First successfully surfed white water waves from start to finish
  • Minimum age 11 years
    (For kids aged 6-10 years we offer special surfing sessions)
  • Swimming ability (at least 25 m)
  • No acute injury or illness

All in This is included in your surf session:

  • Surf Equipment
    For your surf session you will receive a softboard that is easy to learn on, a high-quality wetsuit from our partner RipCurl and a surf helmet.
  • Professional coaching
    Our friendly and licensed surf coaches will support you during the entire surf session to help you learn quickly.
  • Safe learning environment
    Our professional lifeguards will ensure your safety at all times. We will provide you with safety equipment such as a helmet and leash.
  • Day ticket and wristband
    When you check in, you will receive a high-quality SURFTOWN wristband that gives you access to the outdoor area of the surf park for the whole day.
  • Changing rooms & lockers
    The use of our changing rooms with showers, lockers and valuables lockers is included in your ticket.
  • Perfect waves
    You get a guaranteed number of wave attempts due to a limited group size, as well as perfectly suitable waves for your surfing level.

Rookie Session

In our beginner zones, an ideal and beginner-friendly wave is formed for the first take-off attempts and learning successes. The water depth here is chosen so that you can stand up at any time.
